Christmas is right around the corner! Every where we go the festive decorations and celebrations has started, and that is no exception for J65 @ Hotel Jen Tanglin! This year, they have a special Festive Seafood buffet for Christmas!
J65 showcased the best of their seafood themed nights as well as festive carvings of Turkeys, Honey Glazed Virginia Ham, Roasted Pork Knuckle, Slow Roasted Prime Rib Beef and a tantalising array of festive desserts.
Walking through the buffet, we were amazed at the large varieties of cuisines and dishes, from Western to Japanese, Indian to some local fare. It is sure to appeal to those out there who are indecisive on what to eat for dinner!
We skipped through the salad station and headed straight for the raw seafood and Japanese section. On display were mussels, prawns and snow crabs. On Fridays to Sundays, they also serve Fin de Claire Oysters and Boston Lobsters. We particularly enjoyed the snow crabs which were extremely sweet and succulent. They also have quite a decent variety of sushi and we really loved the rice.
Another highlight of their festive buffet is the large carving station! They have a Slow Roasted Prime Rib Beef, two types of turkeys; the traditional Christmas style and the Asian styled – Percik Style, Roasted Pork Knuckle, and a Honey Glazed Virginia Ham. On Fridays to Sundays, they also serve their turkey in a Tandoori style. Accompanying the carvings are various trimmings and sauces like Maple Glazed Chestnuts, Braised Red Cabbage, and many more. Our favorite was definitely the beef, it was extremely tender and melted in our mouths.
We also loved their Grilled Baby Lobster infused with Tarragon Butter, which goes perfectly with their Singapore Laksa. Their seafood porridge, which is a popular room service order, is also very tasty and has smoked mussels inside. They also featured many dishes that were the best of their theme nights, like the Seafood Thermidor and Singapore Chili Crab.
Last but not least, the station that really caught my eyes, their dessert station!!! It is filled to the brim with Christmas goodies like strollen and fruitcake, as well as other local deserts like Nyonya kueh, durian penyet, and even potong ice cream. Their durian penyet is a MUST try for durian lovers if you still have space after all the festive feasting.
If you wish to purchase their turkeys (5-6kg) for your Christmas celebration, there are two styles that you can choose from: Jen’s Fully Loaded Turkey (Western version) or Jen’s Asian Roasted Turkey – Percik Style (Asian version). They are available at S$218 each and can feed 10-12 persons. Each turkey comes with trimmings adjusted specifically for the style of turkey!
