Beauty Review: Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation

Ere Perez is an Australian-owned company that produces natural and healthy beauty products. In the past, I did a first impressions of some of their new products at that time (which you can check out here) and fell in love with the brand! I recently received another package from them, and one of the products is the Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation (A$40). It is a new product of theirs and I was eager to test it out on my skin. Will it match my skin tone? Will it come out cake-y on my skin? What will the formula be like? Hmm… So many questions that needed to be answered. To be honest with you, I have never been a fan of using foundation as they are known to contain many different chemicals and nasties. Just the thought of that alone with the additional knowledge that the product will be caked on my face and clogging my pores for hours at a time really deterred me from using foundation. In addition to that, I have …

Beauty Review: Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

Bite Beauty is a Toronto based beauty company solely focusing on lips. They manufacture without compromise by sourcing food-grade, or good-enough-to-eat ingredients, and producing each and every product in house —proving there’s no sacrifice in quality for products sourced from nature. After swatching a sample of the Agave Lip Mask at Plush Cosmetics, a cosmetics boutique store, I decided to invest in the Agave Lip Mask in clear. I honestly did not know that it came in other colours too. Regardless, I’m happy with what I got. My favourite part of this product (as always) is the fact that it’s formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates. The Agave Lip Mask is a soothing, leave-on lip mask that replenishes moisture. Bite Beauty claims that this innovative formula smooths, nourishes, and hydrates lips with a bioactive blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla co2 extract, and triple the amount of the antioxidant trans-resveratrol found in red wine. So I decided to put it to the test… My first impression of the product was that the consistency is very …

Beauty Review: Custom Lipsticks @The Lip Lab Perth

Ever since I walked pass Lip Lab in Freo, I’ve been itching for a go at customising my very own lipstick shades. However, I did also want someone to go with who would be equally enthusiastic about the experience. Fortunately for me, I had just met Tammy, my fellow lipstick enthusiast. Spurred on by Safiya’s Bite Lip Lab experience, we booked our appointments and excitedly headed down to the Lip Lab in Perth city. Prior to visiting the Lib Lab, I went through numerous reviews trying to find out if the lipsticks were worth the splurge because let’s be practical, beyond the experience, I wanted to know that I would still use my custom shades and enjoy them. However much to my disappointment, there wasn’t a peep about it. So I made it my mission to do some “fieldwork” and report back to all the wonderful people on the interwebs. 😉 I guess you could say, “I did it for the blog”. Haha. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that we were as …

Skincare Review: Dr Roebuck’s PURE Face Moisturiser

If you know me, I’m an avid lover of natural skincare products. Growing up with eczema, dry, and sensitive skin, I’ve always been very careful with the creams that I use, because one small step could lead to my skin itching up, turning red, or even swelling! But as I got older, I realised that natural products could be more beneficial for my skin and I began to try them out. Once I started, I was hooked! One of my tries was Dr Roebuck’s PURE Face Moisturiser which is a day and night face cream. Dr. Roebuck’s products are made in Australia with minimal ingredients for maximum results. PURE claims to be an ultra-hydrating, hypoallergenic cream packed with essential, naturally derived ingredients to hydrate and soothe sensitive skin. The formula combats flaky, eczema-prone skin as well as nourish and soften the complexion. And this wonder-products is only formulated with 7 ingredients, two of which are natural preservatives. In addition to that, their packaging is made up of 100% recyclable material, and it’s also cruelty-free. It’s a win-win! The main …

Food Review: Gordon St Garage

Gordon St Garage was the place where I had my first proper Perth cuppa and so you can imagine that it holds a special place in my heart. However over the past few years, apart from occasional quick stops to get some takeaway coffees before heading to Watertown, I’ve not stepped foot in here to try the food. So on this hot summery day, and with the spur of the moment decision, it was finally time to head back to the first gorgeous place that I fell in love with in Perth. Admittedly, it was daunting at first… Staring at that menu and trying to figure out what to eat. (I usually do a bit of research of the place I’m heading to before I go.) But after that initial setback, I finally selected my meal and waited in anticipation. I ordered the BBQ Salmon with quinoa, fennel and orange salad. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at dish that sat before me. The presentation was definitely different from what I had in mind. …

Food Review: The Modern Eatery (Mount Lawley)

Their sister branch in Freo has long been one of my favourite Japanese places. So when I was invited to visit their Mount Lawley outlet, I was ecstatic. The Modern Eatery specialises in Aburi sushi, where the top of the fish is lightly cooked with a blow torch whilst the rest of it remains raw. Their decor consist of a sleek and minimalist style that holds the whole place together. Now all my friends can attest to this, I’m not the type of girl who goes to a restaurant and orders a salad. So if I said that I really liked the salad, I REALLY liked the salad. The sesame dressing and the mix of vegetables blends really well. It was super refreshing and perfect for the hot day. But my favourite part of the salad was the tiny little sweet potato fries at the top! It’s so yummy that I’m even considering ordering this salad the next time I come back. Oops. It is a pretty sizable portion and I recommend that you share this among 2-4 people if you want …
