Food Review: Lot Twenty

Our plan for this Saturday was simple: Go to the Fresh Prints event at Northbridge Piazza and then get something to eat. As we didn’t have a plan on what to eat, we ended up walking around aimlessly for a long while and sweating profusely before finally settling on having an early dinner at Lot Twenty. Lot Twenty is one of those places that we’ll walk pass and say we’ll go there soon but never did – until now that is. This place has a really chill ambiance with the artsy decor and The Black Adder as a soundtrack for the toilets. It exuded so much coolness that I instantly fell in love with the place.   While Lot Twenty is known for their yummy cocktails, I opted for one of their house made sodas, Lemon Lime & Bitters, and Preet got a Rockmelon and Rose soda spiked with Gin. My drink was refreshing and went really well with the food we ordered. Preet’s drink was equally delicious although the rockmelon wasn’t a favourite for her but it had …

I’m baked.. Are you?

Recently, baked organised a tea party, and I was fortunate enough to be invited! When I got there, I was really impressed with the decorations. It was so simple and yet so pretty and the desserts looked really, really good. If you’re anything like me, by this point of the post, you’re seating in your seat salivating and wishing that you could taste these yummy looking desserts. While I can’t offer you some, here’s what I thought of baked‘s dessert table. If you LOVEE chocolate, but don’t like the sickening sensation of consuming too much, this would be perfect for you. The Hazelnut Tartlet is simple in its looks but tastes oh-so-heavenly. The hazelnut filling is smooth and fluid without being overwhelmingly sweet and is complimented by the cocoa flavoured tart. I couldn’t resist having more than one! The Apple Cinnamon Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting is by far my FAVOURITE of the whole dessert table. The caramel frosting has a sugary and buttery consistency which is balanced out by the fruity apple cinnamon base. I …

September Favourites 2014

Hello my lovely dudettes! It’s time for my September favourites. I can’t believe it’s October already! Where did all the time go…? September has been a pretty hectic month and believe it or not, I did not have much time to try new beauty products. So this month’s favourites consists mainly of products that I’ve been using for a while but have been really loving this month! 1. Australis Mineral Face Highlighter – Pearl I’ve been meaning to get a highlighter for a really long time. I bought this product from Priceline at the beginning of the month. This is the first time that I’m using a highlighter and wow.. do I have to say, I’m really pleased with the results. The shade Pearl is perfect for my skin tone and gives me the right amount of oomph and dewy effect. The product has a slight shimmer but just enough to brighten up your face and give you a fresh and light glow. I didn’t need to use too much of the product to see …

Review: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

I honestly did not intend to try out Sally Hansen’s miracle gel range. However, after stumbling upon this colour online and noticing that the colour is very similar to how Pacific Blue (from Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme range) used to look like, I could not resist trying it out. I tried out Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel range in the shade 360 Tidal Wave. It has a basic 2 step application process and claims to last up to 14 days.   The colour is a gorgeous vibrant blue that stands out from afar. The consistency of the polish is very good as it only needs 2 coats to be opaque. For all of you who want pretty nails but don’t have the patience to go through the tedious process of base coat to top coat, this range is perfect for you as you don’t need to apply a base coat prior to the colour. The polish also dries quite fast compared to most polishes. What I really liked about this range is that it …

Malaysia: Foodie Haven

Today, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the launch of Tourism Malaysia’s Taste of Malaysia campaign. This campaign is organised in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year to encourage tourists from Australia to visit Malaysia. Taste of Malaysia began today and is being held at Seven 88 Bar & Café at Holiday Inn, Perth City. In collaboration with Air Asia, Penang Global Tourism and Holiday Inn, Tourism Malaysia hopes to bring a taste of Malaysia to the streets of Perth. It is one of the series of events and activities that has been organised to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2014. This event allowed me to reconnect with my Malaysian roots because if there is one essential thing of what makes us Malaysian, it is food. My favourite part of Malaysian food is the diversity of it’s origins. Our food often has Chinese, Malay and Indian influences in terms of style, texture and flavour. It is what makes our food so unique after all. As such, I was glad to see that Tourism Malaysia …
