Hello my lovely dudettes!
It’s time for my September favourites. I can’t believe it’s October already! Where did all the time go…?
September has been a pretty hectic month and believe it or not, I did not have much time to try new beauty products. So this month’s favourites consists mainly of products that I’ve been using for a while but have been really loving this month!
1. Australis Mineral Face Highlighter – Pearl
I’ve been meaning to get a highlighter for a really long time. I bought this product from Priceline at the beginning of the month. This is the first time that I’m using a highlighter and wow.. do I have to say, I’m really pleased with the results. The shade Pearl is perfect for my skin tone and gives me the right amount of oomph and dewy effect. The product has a slight shimmer but just enough to brighten up your face and give you a fresh and light glow. I didn’t need to use too much of the product to see the effect. The product is very lightweight and easy to apply and blend (be it with a brush or your fingers). It has become an essential in my makeup routine. The product is packaged with a pump at the top. Be warned though, it is very easy to dispense too much product so go easy on the pump. It is a very affordable drugstore product with amazing results!
2. NUXE Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm
I’m gonna be honest here, this is the MOST expensive lip balm I’ve ever owned. A while back, one of my close friends was telling me that some beauty gurus were raving about this lip balm and said that it was very good. It cost $20 for this 15g tub of lip balm and I wasn’t even sure if it was worth it. After a very long time of contemplation, I bought this product. But in my defense, I bought it when it was on sale at Priceline and with the voucher that I got from previous spendings (the perks of spending at Priceline), I ended up paying only $3 for this lip balm. Let’s just say that I was (and still am) pretty smug about it.
The product is packaged as a little pot, which I have to admit was a bit annoying and unhygienic as I have to stick my fingers into the pot every time I wanted to use it. At first, I didn’t really appreciate the texture as it is thick and gritty. However, after a while I started getting used to it. I prefer to use this as a ‘nighttime’ lip balm as it is very hydrating and my lips tend to get really dry while I sleep. I love being able to wake up to moisturised lips now! This product is also good as a base for a tinted-lips look as it allows me to apply less of the lip colour onto my lips. I also like to apply a thin layer on my lips before putting on lipstick as it helps to keep my lips moisturised throughout the day. The lip balm dries matte which is also handy especially when you’re using a matte lip colour. It has a subtle zesty and sweet taste as it is grapefruit, lemon and honey scented. Disclaimer: This lip balm never leaves the house. I use another lip balm when I go out.
3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – 423 Pink Velvet
Love, love, LOVE this lipstick. When in doubt, I always reach for this lipstick to finish off my look. It is a nice rosy pink that work really well against my skin tone. I like this colour as I look put together without it seeming like I’m trying to hard. The colour is very chic and elegant and always gives me the right boost of colour. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick’s is my favourite range of lipsticks as I find them nice and moisturising. For it’s price, the colour payoff is really good as well. Unlike most drugstore lipsticks, this range isn’t cheaply scented which really appeals to me. I usually have a hard time finding pink that looks good on me so if I ever finish this colour, I will not hesitate to repurchase.
4. Rosehip by Essano Moisture Restorative Night Creme
The main reason why I love this product? It’s all natural. No parabens, harsh chemical sulpahtes, phthalates, colours, petrochemicals and other nasty stuffs that are bad for your face. They also used certified organic Rosehip Oil, Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter. It has a light rose-y scent that is in no way nauseating.
Before going to bed, I’ll cleanse my face then use this product alongside my Rosehip Oil. What I really like about this product is that I can feel the difference – nowadays I wake up with skin that is soft and smooth like a baby’s bottom. It is really moisturising and a little amount of the product goes a long way. The product absorbs into the skin really easily. I’ve been using this for almost 3 months now, but I’ve felt the significance since week 1! For the price that you pay, I really do think that this product is worth it.
5. You+Me – You and Me
“They say everything it happens for a reason. You can be flawed enough but perfect for a person”
You and Me is a the debut song from You+Me. Alecia Moore (P!nk) + Dallas Green (City And Colour) = You+Me. It is one of the songs on their new album rose ave. Since they released the song in the beginning of September, I found myself listening to it on repeat on countless days. I really like the lyrics and the meaning of how you can be perfect for that one person. Sappy of me, I know. But I guess that’s just how I am. Let me know if you like the song too!
