Beauty Review: Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation

Ere Perez is an Australian-owned company that produces natural and healthy beauty products. In the past, I did a first impressions of some of their new products at that time (which you can check out here) and fell in love with the brand! I recently received another package from them, and one of the products is the Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation (A$40). It is a new product of theirs and I was eager to test it out on my skin. Will it match my skin tone? Will it come out cake-y on my skin? What will the formula be like? Hmm… So many questions that needed to be answered.

To be honest with you, I have never been a fan of using foundation as they are known to contain many different chemicals and nasties. Just the thought of that alone with the additional knowledge that the product will be caked on my face and clogging my pores for hours at a time really deterred me from using foundation. In addition to that, I have always found it hard to find a shade that matches my skin tone and blends well.

So, the Quinoa Water Foundation had me intrigued. The foundation is advertised as a lightweight water-based vegan foundation that can provide light to medium coverage with a natural finish. One of my favourite things about Ere Perez Cosmetics is that besides being created with all-natural ingredients, the products are always further enriched with lovely goodness! The quinoa in the foundation helps to heal inflammation and increase skin elasticity. In addition to that, blackcurrant is added to the formula for its antioxidants and vitamins. The combination of these ingredients rejuvenates your skin while helping to reduce redness, pigmentation, and fine lines. The knowledge of that alone put many qualms that I had about foundations to rest.

I opted for the shade “Dawn” as it is suitable for light/medium to medium skin tones. However, when I first took the product out of the box, I was a tad bit concerned that the pigment was too orange-y for my skin tone. The foundation comes in a sleek glass bottle with a dropper attached to the lid. The product is definitely more lightweight with a more liquid-y formula, so do be extra careful during application.

I would say that a little goes a long way with this foundation. I used a silicon makeup sponge to apply the foundation on my face, but you could also use a brush or beauty blender. As I always prefer a lighter and more natural look, I used 2 drops of the foundation for my whole face. But you can always use more if you want more coverage. To my surprise, the product blended well into my skin and gave me a lovely matte finish. It did not look orange-y on my skin and it was a nice and smooth finish! Goodbye my fear of cake-y foundation!

I left the foundation on for close to 8 hours and found that it still sat well on my face and provided the coverage that I needed. Applying this product may get a little messy if you are not used to the style of the packaging and the consistency of the product. But I got the hang of it with a little practice. Overall, I am really happy with this product and will be using it again!

  1. I tried this and found it to be greasy for my oul T zone skin. Also made me get some breakougs on the cheeks. So disappointed as I love the ingredients and the color was kind of ok. I struggle with finding the right shade too. The search continues..

    1. Hey Rhea, that’s so unfortunate as I love the ingredients too. The struggle to find the right shade is all too real! Have you found one that works for you yet? Would love to hear about it! x
