150g to 180g asparagus

250g of grated mature Cheddar cheese

METHOD:

  2. Cut each strip of bacon into half and set aside.IMG_4005
  3. Trim the ends of the asparagus.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.IMG_3990
  5. Put 6 shoots together and ensure that they are even at the trimmed end.
  6. Place the bacon about 2 cm away from the top of the asparagus and sprinkle some cheddar cheese on the asparagus then start to wrap the bacon around the cheese and the asparagus. Repeat the step till you’ve finished wrapping all your asparagus.IMG_3997IMG_4016
  7. Set your wrapped asparagus aside on a baking tray.IMG_4027
  8. Place your wrapped asparagus into the oven and bake for about 4 to 5 minutes or till bacon is a little crispy. Half way through the baking you may want to sprinkle some of the parmesan cheese on top and continue baking.IMG_4034
  9. Repeat steps 7-8 if you have any remaining wrapped asparagus.
  10. Sprinkle any remaining Parmesan over the cooked asparagus and served.

Note:

If you do not have an oven you may pan fry the wrapped asparagus:

  1. Heat a pan over medium heat and add some olive oil or cooking oil.
  2. Place the bacon wrapped asparagus in and fry them, in batches, for 3 to 4 minutes till the bacon is golden brown and the asparagus is a little on the crunchy side.
  3. Remove them from the pan and set them aside.
  4. Repeat the process for the remaining wraps.

Mummy's Kitchen

Hi! My name is Josephine Go. I blog at BeyondNorm.com in a segment called Mummy’s Kitchen. I love to use fresh and natural ingredients in my cooking to promote healthy eating. Some of my recipes may not be in line with the traditional methods of cooking to the extent that some of the ingredients are different, but hopefully new recipes are being created in my style. I certainly hope that what I do will help guide kitchen first-timers on how to cook their first meal as well as further equip kitchen veterans with new recipes. My loving husband and two wonderful children are my best guinea pigs and critics. They have enjoyed (or endured) the food that has been served to them for all these years. Mind you, I did not know how to cook or ever knew that I could cook till I got married. So there is hope for everyone. If I can cook, you can cook. You will not know how good or talented you are until you put your hand in the plough.
